URSA – Urbanization and Health in the Amazon

Overview URSA (Urbanização e Saúde na Amazônia) investigates the relationship between urbanization trends in the Amazon region and public health outcomes. The project is premised on the understanding that the combination of urban densification with social and environmental vulnerability, without adequate public policies, creates conditions for pathogen emergence and the persistence of endemic diseases. The project organizes open data covering economic, environmental, and health dimensions along the urban-rural gradient in the Amazon, using the Trajetórias dataset which includes environmental, socioeconomic, and vector-borne disease incidence indicators across 772 municipalities in nine states of the Brazilian Legal Amazon (2000–2017). Mosqlimate

About Mosqlimate is a data science platform designed to produce usable forecasts of dengue burden, incorporating all available data sources with special attention to the impact of future climate trends. Goals Develop forecasting models for dengue incidence Integrate climate and epidemiological data Ensure reproducibility of the entire forecasting pipeline Track data, model source code, and predictions Funding This project is funded by the Wellcome Trust.

InfoDengue

About InfoDengue is a nowcasting system that organizes raw surveillance data generated by SUS into a well-organized data platform, generating weekly analytical reports for the public management of dengue, chikungunya, and Zika at federal, state, and municipal levels. Goals Real-time epidemiological surveillance of arboviruses Automated data collection and processing Weekly analytical reports for public health management Integration of multiple data sources (climatic, epidemiological, entomological) Funding This project is a partnership with Fiocruz and funded by the Brazilian Ministry of Health.
